Prince Edward Island invites 52 Candidates in latest PEI PNP Draw

Dear future neighbour,

Prince Edward Island continued its steady pace of immigration nominations with its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held on June 19, 2025, inviting 52 skilled workers through its Labour Impact, Express Entry and Work Permit streams.

This was the sixth draw of the year and happened during a time when PEI is allowing fewer immigrants and focusing more on workers needed in key job sectors.

Focused Selection Strategy in 2025

PEI’s immigration strategy in 2025 reflects a shift toward labour-market-driven selection, targeting workers in critical sectors such as:

  • Healthcare

  • Construction

  • Manufacturing

  • Information Technology

  • Childcare and early childhood education

Due to a federally mandated reduction in nomination allocations, PEI has narrowed its focus this year, issuing invitations only to applicants with job offers in occupations facing genuine shortages. Sales, general service, and low-skilled positions are no longer being considered for nomination.

Business Impact Category: Work Permit Stream

In its June 19 draw, PEI issued one invitation under the Work Permit Stream, which targets entrepreneurs looking to invest in and manage a business in the province.

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Have a net worth of at least $600,000

  • Meet CLB 4 language requirements

  • Possess business ownership or senior management experience

  • Hold at least a high school diploma

  • Be 21–59 years old at the time of application

  • Commit to living in PEI and actively managing a local business

Applicants arrive on a work permit and must operate the business for at least one year before becoming eligible for nomination. Selection is based on a points system with a maximum score of 210.

How to Qualify for Provincial Immigration to Prince Edward Island

To be considered for immigration through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), prospective applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), specifying the stream they wish to be assessed under.

Once submitted, the province evaluates candidates based on a combination of the following factors:

  • Language ability in English or French

  • Educational background, including level, field of study, and where the education was completed

  • Work experience and occupational skills

  • Alignment with PEI’s current labour market priorities

  • Employment-related criteria, such as a valid job offer from a PEI employer or prior Canadian work experience

After creating an EOI profile, candidates are placed in a pool and assigned a ranking score relative to others.

Top-ranked individuals may be invited to apply for a provincial nomination, bringing them one step closer to permanent residency.
