New Brunswick Introduces Two Enhanced PNP Pathways to Permanent Residence

Dear future neighbour,

On March 5, 2025, New Brunswick reopened applications for two enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) pathways:

  1. Employment in New Brunswick Pathway
  2. New Brunswick Interests Pathway

These pathways are aligned with Canada’s federal Express Entry system, offering skilled workers expedited routes to permanent residency.

Key Updates

  • Minimum Age Requirement: Reduced from 22 to 19 years.
  • Employment in New Brunswick Pathway: Requires candidates to have at least 12 consecutive months of work experience in the province.

See below candidates eligible to receive invitations for provincial nomination through these streams:

Pathway A summary of the eligibility criteria that differentiate applicants
Employment in New Brunswick – Have been living in New Brunswick and working full-time for a New Brunswick employer for the past 12 consecutive months.
New Brunswick Interests – Have received a letter of interest from ImmigrationNB in their federal Express Entry profile; and

– Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience within the past 10 years.

Application Requirements:

Candidates in both streams are also required to meet the following common eligibility criteria:

  • They must have a valid Express Entry profile.
  • They should demonstrate English or French proficiency equivalent to at least CLB/NCLC* level 7 in all four language skills.
  • They need to meet the federal minimum proof of funds requirement, unless exempt.
  • They must have obtained a Canadian high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • They must intend to live and work permanently in New Brunswick.
  • They should be between the ages of 19 and 55.
  • They are required to score a minimum of 67 points on New Brunswick’s Express Entry selection grid.
  • Employment under both pathways must be in a position classified at a National Occupation Classification (NOC) Training Education Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) level 0, 1, 2, or 3.

Occupations not eligible

Candidates in any of the occupations listed below will not be considered by New Brunswick:

Job Title NOC Code
Accounting technicians and bookkeepers 12200
Administrative assistants 13110
Bakers 63202
Cooks 63200
Food service supervisors 62020
Restaurant and food service managers 60030
Retail and wholesale trade managers 60020
Retail sales supervisors 62010

Important Considerations:

New Brunswick’s provincial nomination allocation for 2025 is limited to 1,500 spots, leading to prioritized selection in sectors like health, education, and construction. Certain occupations may be excluded from eligibility.
