Dear future neighbour,
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) remains active and responsive to the province’s labour market needs. Between July 3 and July 16, 2025, Alberta conducted six draws under multiple streams, issuing a total of 382 invitations to apply for provincial nomination.
These draws targeted candidates with backgrounds in healthcare, agriculture, aviation, and law enforcement, as well as local workers already employed in Alberta.
See below summary of six AAIP Draws held between July 3–16, 2025
Date | Stream / Pathway | Minimum Score Required | Number of Invitations |
---|---|---|---|
July 3, 2025 | Dedicated Healthcare Pathway – Express Entry | 62 | 36 |
July 4, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors: Agriculture | 64 | 15 |
July 8, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors: Aviation | 53 | 20 |
July 9, 2025 | Dedicated Healthcare Pathway – Non-Express Entry | 53 | 32 |
July 11, 2025 | Alberta Opportunity Stream | 72 | 269 |
July 16, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry – Law Enforcement Pathway | 49 | <10 |
Key Observations
1. Healthcare Continues as a Top Priority
Alberta held two healthcare-specific draws in July; one for Express Entry profiles and another for non-Express Entry applicants. This reflects the ongoing demand for skilled healthcare workers across the province.
2. Targeted Sector Draws Remain Active
Small but strategic draws were held for individuals in agriculture, aviation, and law enforcement fields—indicating that Alberta continues to invite candidates with experience in these critical sectors.
3. Alberta Opportunity Stream Leads in Numbers
The Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) issued the largest number of invitations in this period—269 invitations on July 11 with a relatively high minimum score of 72. This stream benefits workers already employed full-time in Alberta and holding valid work permits.
4. Flexible Score Thresholds
Minimum required scores varied significantly from as low as 49 (Law Enforcement Pathway) to as high as 72 (AOS). This variation emphasizes how eligibility depends on the stream and occupation targeted.
Provincial Nomination Status in 2025
As of July 16, 2025, Alberta had issued 2,895 nominations out of its total 4,875 nomination allocation for the year. This leaves approximately 1,980 nomination spots still available for the remainder of 2025.
What This Means for Prospective Applicants
-
Targeted sectors are your best bet. If your occupation falls under healthcare, agriculture, aviation, or law enforcement, Alberta is actively inviting candidates like you.
-
If you’re already working in Alberta, the Alberta Opportunity Stream offers a viable pathway to permanent residency—with significantly more invitations being issued under this category.
-
Maintain an active Express Entry profile and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the AAIP portal if applicable.
-
Language tests, work experience, and ties to Alberta (such as a job offer or employment) can significantly improve your chances.
