Quebec invites 1,560 candidates for PR in latest Quebec Arrima draw

On July 25, 2024, the latest Quebec Arrima draw issued 1,560 invitations for permanent residency applications. These invitations were extended under the Regular Skilled Worker Program (RSWP), aiming to attract skilled workers to the province.

British Columbia invites 72+ candidates for PR in latest BC PNP Draw

British Columbia sent out over 72 invitations to apply for permanent residency in a general and targeted draw announced on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

In a general BC PNP draw, 37 invitations have been issued for the BC PNP Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, which also include their Express Entry options.

9 profiles with experience as early childhood educators’ assistants or instructors, also 9 candidates with experience in any of the 25-construction related occupations, finally 17 profiles in any of the 39- healthcare related occupations were all considered in the targeted BC PNP Draw.

IRCC Increases Ontario Immigration Quota for 2024

The 2024 quota for the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program increases to 21,500. This increment is a step in the right direction as OINP has asked the federal government for an increase in the PNP quota since 2021.

In 2023, the first major increase in OINP allotment was effected from a total of 9,750 to 16,500. Now in 2024, an additional 5,000 has been added to the number in 2023 bringing it to a total of 21,500.

The new OINP allocation in 2024 is nearly 20% of the immigration levels plan for provincial nomination this year.

IRCC invites 2,500 Candidates for PR in New Express Entry Francophone Draw

Canada imposes New Visa requirements for Mexican citizens effective February 29, 2024

This update is in response to a rise in asylum petitions filed by Mexican citizens that are denied, withdrawn or abandoned. The new changes will apply even if you have already booked your trip to Canada so this is very important.

According to IRCC, having pre-booked travel reservations or a previously valid electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) does not ensure approval for a new eTA or visa.

Mexican citizens can reapply for a new eTA if they fall into any of these categories:

frequently fly to Canada and have had a visitor visa to Canada in the last ten years
or currently possess a valid non-immigrant visa to the United States.

If they do not have any of the above, they require a visa.

Mexican citizens who have valid Canadian work or study permits are unaffected. Their eTA will not be cancelled and they will be able to continue traveling to Canada.

Mexican citizens residing in Canada without a Canadian study or work permit are allowed to stay for the duration of their permitted stay. However, when they leave Canada and intend to return, they must obtain a visa or a new electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), if eligible.

Due to the new entrance regulations, Mexican visitors may experience delays upon arrival at Canadian airports. It’s important for Mexican visitors to be aware of these regulations and plan accordingly for potential delays when traveling to Canada.
