Canada’s New Caregiver Program Set to Launch on March 31, 2025

Canada’s New Caregiver Program designed to address the increasing demand for caregivers in the country named the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots, is set to open on March 31, 2025.

This new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots will replace the now-terminated Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot, which stopped accepting applications on June 17, 2024.

Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements which includes:

– a valid job offer from a Canadian employer or a Canadian family

– language proficiency in English or French

– a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 4 which is the lowest level of English equivalent to 4 bands in writing and speaking with 4.5 in listening and 3.5 in reading for IELTS.

– at least one year of post-secondary education equivalent to Canadian standards.

New Canada Caregiver Programs: Streamlined Pathways and Improved Features

The Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots have been redesigned with several improvements to make the immigration process smoother and more accessible for caregivers. These updates aim to address previous challenges while offering more opportunities for skilled workers in the caregiving sector.

Increased Employment Flexibility:

Participants will have the option to work for employers offering temporary or part-time care services, catering to individuals who are semi-independent or recovering from illness or injury. This flexibility ensures that caregivers have a broader range of employment opportunities to choose from.

These enhancements reflect Canada’s ongoing commitment to supporting caregivers while addressing labor shortages and fostering economic growth.

Furthermore, candidates who are already in Canada and have caregiving work experience may qualify for permanent residency more quickly, provided they meet the required hours of work experience.

Previous Caregiver Programs

1.Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot: These programs closed to new applications on June 17, 2024.

2.Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP): This program stopped accepting applications in 2014.

4.Caring for People with High Medical Needs Program: This program also ended on June 18, 2019.

5.Interim Pathway for Caregivers: A temporary pathway that closed on October 8, 2019.

British Columbia sends 66+ PR invitations in latest BC PNP draw

On July 9, the latest BC PNP draw issued over 66 invitations to apply for permanent residency. These invitations were sent out in both general and targeted rounds.

British Columbia has been holding these weekly draws consistently. There have been no interruptions in this regular schedule.

Since the start of its participation in immigration news, B.C. has maintained an unbroken streak of weekly draws. This consistent effort reflects the province’s commitment to its immigration program.

In a general draw, 35 invitations were issued, including those for 35 tech occupations. The cutoff score was unchanged from the previous BC PNP general draw on June 25.

Additionally, 12 invitations were sent to profiles with experience in 39 healthcare-related occupations. Furthermore, 10 invitations went to those with experience as early childhood educators’ assistants or instructors (NOC 42202).

9 applicants with experience in 25 construction-related occupations were also invited as part of British Columbia’s new category-based draw, introduced in late 2023.

British Columbia sent out over 72 invitations to apply for permanent residency in a general and targeted draw announced on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

In a general BC PNP draw, 37 invitations have been issued for the BC PNP Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, which also include their Express Entry options.

9 profiles with experience as early childhood educators’ assistants or instructors, also 9 candidates with experience in any of the 25-construction related occupations, finally 17 profiles in any of the 39- healthcare related occupations were all considered in the targeted BC PNP Draw.

IRCC to invite 35,700 Potential Sponsors in Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2024

IRCC is set to commence the issuance of invitations for Parents and Grandparents sponsorship 2024 on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

The immigration department will randomly select some candidates from the pool who filled out the interest-to-sponsor forms in 2020 to invite them to apply.

The IRCC will start sending invitations to apply to 35,700 potential sponsors, aiming to receive up to 20,500 completed applications.

Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2024 Eligibility

To be eligible to qualify to sponsor your parents or grandparents for PR (permanent residency) in Canada, you must be:

  • a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or an Indian enrolled under the Canadian Indian Act who is at least eighteen years old.
  • must fulfill the IRCC financial requirement and have enough money to sustain the family you wish to sponsor, along with acceptable proof of income for the last three years.
  • must have submitted an interest-to-sponsor form for PGP in 2020.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will start sending invitations around May 21st and continue for about 2 weeks.

It is recommended to check the email address provided in 2020 if an interest-to-sponsor form was submitted that year but no invitation to apply was received in 2021, 2022, or 2023.

Sponsors who are not in the pool and desire to invite their parents or grandparents can go with the option of applying for a Canada Super Visa. With this option, the Super Visa holder has a valid ten-year visa and can stay in Canada for 5 years at a stretch and also have the opportunity to apply for an extension afterwards.

The average processing time for parents and grandparents (PGP) sponsorship applications across Canada is now 20 months, except in Quebec which is approximately 33 months.
