Visiting Visas

The Temporary Resident Visa allows the holder to come to Canada for the purpose of tourism, holidays in Canada, or to visit family.

With this Visa, you can go to a Canadian port of entry and request permission to enter the country. If you have been issued a Visitor visa to Canada and the officers find that you do not have any criminal intentions, you will be allowed to pass through the port of entry and begin your holiday or family visit in Canada.

Here are the eligibility requirements to get a visiting visa:

Have a valid travel document eg a visa
Be in good health
Have no criminal or immigration related convictions
Be able to convince an immigration officer that you have sufficient ties - eg a job, home, financial assets or family - that will take you back to your home country
Be able to convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
Have enough money for your visit - depending on how long you will stay, and where you will be staying
You may also need a medical exam/letter of invitation
